PortugalFoods, as the Portuguese Agrofood Cluster, is a private non-profit association, founded in 2008, that currently brings together about 140 members, including food industry companies, entities from the national scientific system (universities & institutes) and other members whose activity is related with agrofood sector.


As a platform where its members establish win-win relationships in order to support their innovation and internationalization activities, PortugalFoods has the mission to boost agrofood sector competitiveness:

(1) by increasing their technological index, when supports knowledge production, as well as knowledge transference and application;

(2) by promoting their internationalization, when identifies opportunities and empowers food companies in this area.


PortugalFoods is strongly engaged with the food industry and scientific community to develop a path for sustainable growth in agrofood sector, providing opportunities to create innovative products and to better compete in the global market, leveraging the unique attributes of Portuguese Products.

Cooperation between R&D Institutions/Food Companies

PortugalFoods is looking for contacts on food companies and R&D institutions aiming to promote cooperation among Portuguese universities and food companies. The cluster is engaged with knowledge transfer and with the internationalization of knowledge.
The envisaged collaborations can be focused on product development, processing and technological issues, food trends among other fields that are relevant to the food industry.
